RE: WOW......get out of his way....

Not to omit that it will be physically impossible to stop that setup at that speed when the teenager pulls in front of him talking on the cell phone. :(

RE: Have you ever had a blowout that damaged your camper.....

Had a blow out, left front, on I95 in North Carolina. Ripped up the wheel well pretty good, no broken water or power lines, and left a hole under the kitchen sink. Why did it fail? Can't tell you for certain - BUT that was the one time I did NOT check the trailer tire pressure befor we hit the road. DUH :( Phil

RE: I have become my parents?

It's OK as long as you don't stand at the door waiting for the driver and then inform them that he/she is five minutes late. :)

RE: Majestic Oaks RV Park Biloxi MS

according to their website they are open. I have not stayed there. http://www.majesticoaksrv.com/ The Cajun RV Park is still closed. Their web site says they were to open in February but that has evidently been pushed back to late summer or early fall.

RE: Sheared off roof on tree trunk!

The original poster did the right thing. If the campground owner had a problem they should do more on ground maintenance. I would post your comments about this campground on RVPARKREVIEWS.COM with a warning to owners of big rigs. If you have a big rig it is always wise to check out the route, especially on campgrounds that have been around a few years. We were staying in a campground in the Williamsburg, VA area that said it was 'big rig friendly'. Yes for the first few rows. Further back in I had no problem getting around with my 26' TT but was obviously 'tight' for anything over 30' or a 5th wheet which sits higher. As luck would have it, someone brand new to the RV world came in with a first time out fiver and 3/4T diesel TV. Not thinking of using a spotter this person cut a corner too tight and ripped open the curb side of the fiver like he used a can opener. I tired to warm him but I guess he thought I was admimring his new rig. To say he was not a happy camper is a bad joke. After checking out the damage everyone got back in the truck and they drove home. Pulling 30+ fleet of fiver with a long wheel base truck is not the same is driving your foor door sedan. Phil

RE: What is that smell?

If you have black mold you must clean it up before you sleep in your unit this season. Black mold is dangerous and can cause all sorts of health problems. Check out this link for the proper cleaning procedure. http://www.toxic-black-mold-info.com/moldclean.htm Phil

RE: Swaying when pulling 31' travel trailer

I think you will find TXiceman's #5 comment will make a huge difference. Most 1/2T's come with passenger car tires that have flexible side walls for comfort. LT (light truck) tires have stiffer side walls and will greatly reduce the 'sway' that is giving you that 'white knuckle' towing experience. That being said if you are moving along at 65 and the rigs are passing you at 75 there will be a 'bump' from the air being pushed to the sides. You can minimize it, but not completly get rid of it. RE: Maybe the Gas and CG is still Cheaper

Don't forget the cost of eating in restaurants vs getting your groceries at the local Food Lion or Piggly Wiggly. Before we got into the RV world the cost of food darn near ruined a Florida vacation. Phil

RE: Dixie Stampeed?

Well worth it. But remember this is not a $100/plate dinner at a big city place. It is good finger food, with suitable entertainment. If that ain't your thing - you won't like it. Phil

RE: Need suggestions for Va/DC

The only other alternatives are far West or far South (like Fredericksburg, VA)

RE: Will the price of gas impact the industry?

We were at our favorite weekend getaway place on the DELMARVA peninsula this past weekend (March 7th thru 9th). Talking with local friends the current 'buzz' among the merchants is that the summer of '08 will be a slow to moderate season. People are anxious about interest rates, the vacation home sales market is very slow, homes are not moving and rental bookings are behind this time last year. Gas prices don't seem to be as big a factor since most of their 'market' is within a 2 to 3 hour drive. (Richmond to Philadelphia). I know we only have one 'trip' planned this summer and that is less than a days drive away. Gas prices may be a factor, but only one factor. There is a lot of economic 'buzz' in the wind right now. RE: Screen rooms, could use some advice

We have one. They are good when you are going to be in one place for a week or more. We used it in the place of tents to put the kids when they were younger to cut down on congestion in the TT. Goes up pretty quick. Does a 'fair' job of keeping out bugs. Phil

RE: Freaky Deer Accident: I didn't hit him. He hit me!

Just remembered an incident when a friend was hunting in Maine. He was with a couple of hunting budies in a pickup when they rounded a curve in a logging road. Standing in the middle of the road, about 15 feet from their truck, was a bull moose, in full rut. The moose snorted twice and charged the pickup. Even though they put it in reverse the moose caught up with them and got it's front legs up on the hood the truck, causing a great amount of damage. My friend said you have not lived until you have seen a love struck moose just on the other side of the windshield. They gave up hunting for the rest of the day. Phil

RE: florida panhandle

When are you going? Does not happen often but the Panhandle and Jacksonville will get snow. The current forecast for Tallahassee for the 2nd and the 3rd are lows between 18 and 20 degrees. In my opinion too cold for a typical three season RV. The following week the lows will be upto the 50's but by weekend end down to freezing again. Phil

RE: Freaky Deer Accident: I didn't hit him. He hit me!

My old Suburban had over $1,000 in damage due to a buck chasing a doe but hit the driver side instead. Broke it's neck. Meat was too torn up to be usable. Phil

RE: new silverado 2500 hd crew cab 6.0 (3:73 or 410 )

Another vote for the 4.10. Had a 3.73 on the Suburban I just traded in. Big difference when towing.
